This is my depiction of Sri Krishna and The Queen of The South Sea. (might be fictional)
The “Krishna” character I’ve drawn is based on the Indonesian-Javanese version which has dark skin instead of blue like the Indian-Hindu beliefs. This is most likely because of the stories told in our Javanese culture states that Krishna is a pure human being and not a “God”. However in the Javanese culture, he is an Avatar of Lord Vishnu(Batara Wisnu), similar to the Indian version, he is the 9th incarnation of Vishnu. It is said on both Javanese and Indian, that the 10th incarnation will arrive at the end of time, who knows what will happen after that.
About 5000 years ago, Krishna was the King of Dvaraka (Dwaraka/Dwarawati-Javanese), an ancient kingdom which lies somewhere south of India. About 5000 years ago, Krishna was the King of Dvaraka (Dwaraka/Dwarawati-Javanese), an ancient kingdom which lies somewhere south of India.
From the Javanese, culture of “wayang”, Sri Krishna has two miraculous magical items that only an avatar of Vishnu can use, The Cakra weapon; a devastating tool of destruction that cannot be destroyed by any force of nature, when materialised out of Krishna’s chest, it shapes like a flying disc with sharp edges, spinning infinitely and only returns to Krishna once it’s target or targets are dead unless called upon Krishna him self.
The second magical item which can also materialised from his chest, is the “Bunga Wijaya Kusuma” (Wijaya Kusuma Flower), which has the opposite effect from the Cakra; it can bring back dead person into life. However, the flower can only be use for death by un-natural cause. Krishna in the Javanese culture has the ability of flight.
When his “task” was completed as a human, Krishna died by a hunter’s miss fired poison arrow on his right feet while meditating (according to the Javanese version he was waiting for his soul to be released, he already knew that it was his time).
Krishna played a major role on the “Mahabharata” and “Bharatayudha” epic battle, he was the military and strategic advisor to the Pandavas. His task on earth was to ensure the winning of the Pandavas which represent justice and virtue. (He was not allowed to do battle, because everyone knows who he is and it will be completely un-fair as he can wipe all humanity in a single blow).
Krishna in the Javanese culture is a pure human, which means that he does mistakes, errors not always “right”. But most of the time, he is known to be ‘just’ and kind, cunning and quick thinking, there is an answer for everything, solutions to every problems without the use of any supernatural powers. To my knowledge, his “character” is very similar to China’s “Zhuge Liang” who is also a strategist.
The Queen of The South Sea,
The Javanese believes that there is female queen in the form of a spirit, who rules the south part of the world, specifically, the ocean. She is known also to be kind and just. She monitored how the world evolves closely and helps when the world is un-balanced specially when evil is overwhelming the good. She has many assistant who rules in each south sea of the world, one of the famous one in Indonesia is Nyi Roro Kidul (Nyi Loro Kidul).
It is also historically known that the Javanese Kings must get her blessings and approval before they step up to be the king. It is unknown if this tradition applies to the modern democracy of Indonesia. She is still up to this moment, for the javanese people, the protector of Indonesia.
Here’s my “own” depiction
(a guess based on stories from elders which has no supportive evidences)
In Javanese, Vishnu the god is also associated with “North”, his palace is called “North Heaven” (Utara Segara). In the South, we have the Queen of the South Sea as it’s spiritual ruler. Known historically speaking, both have never met. However there are rumours that has been going on several Javanese beliefs a long time ago, that both did met when Vishnu was incarnated as Krishna at the time before he was the King of Dvaraka.
They were in love, but sadly it was never meant to be due to complicated matters, one significant matter is that Krishna was a human being and The Queen was still in her spiritual form. And so they promise (janji) to each other that they will meet as humans in the next life where Krishna will be the 10th avatar of Vishnu(which probably will not have the name Krishna) and they will live as couples.
And more interestingly, when both are born as humans, they will have no memory recollection of their promise in their previous life. Only the will of nature can help them.
